SNOW SNOW SNOW!!! |
Here we got some very helpful health education adivce from the staff and they helped us get a better idea of some of the health issues in Salluit so we can address them appropriately. Also, Inuktitut food guides! WHAT WHAT?!?!
We finished off that day with a fitness class that some of the teachers were running after school. Remember when we brought up how we are out of shape? I AM HURTING ALL OVER STILL, AND IT'S BEEN THREE DAYS. Despite the pain of much running, push-ups and (Liz) being elimated during every game of Elimination (Bump I called it when I was a kid), it was a TON of fun and it was a great opportunity to get to know some of the students!
Saturday, we decided to jump in to the community centre to play hockey with some of the kids who were around. They were a bit shy at first, but once we started playing with them, THEY WERE SO MUCH FUN! After 3 hours with them, we came back later to play for another hour and a half with some of the older kids. Liz redeemed herself from Friday's basketball failure.
Sunday, we headed to church in the morning (a beautiful service, all in Inuktitut, with lots of music and singing!) followed by a fantastic potluck brunch hosted by Barb for us to get to know the teachers! Barb helped us make her world famous Peanut-Butter-What-Nots and it was a great time!

ReplyDeleteWell you may gain 20 pounds from all the delish bannock you're probably eating (so jealous) but sounds like you're working it off with all that exercise with the kiddies! When you get back we'll have to play a game of Bump so you can show off your new skills :)
